Voyager and Hilton Partnership

Voyager Space Holdings

Voyager Space (“Voyager”), the world’s leading space exploration company, announced today that Hilton will be the official hotel partner of Starlab, the free commercial space station that Voyager plans to plan.

Hilton will bring the company’s renowned hospitality expertise and experience to support the design and development of crew suites aboard Starlab, helping to reimagine the human experience in space, making longer stays more comfortable.

“Starlab will be more than a destination, it will be an even more unique and artistic experience by integrating the Hilton team of innovation, expertise and global reach,” said Dylan Taylor, Voyager Space Chairman and CEO. “Voyager and Hilton have a strong focus on finding innovative solutions for the future of humanity and this partnership opens new doors for what’s possible for space exploration and comfort-focused housing.”

Voyager and its operating company Nanoracks secured $160 million in NASA funding in 2021 for the Starlab space station, which is set to replace the International Space Station. Starlab is planned to have the capacity to continuously host up to four astronauts and house George Washington Carver Science Park (GWC), a state-of-the-art laboratory system and the first science park in space. Starlab leverages Voyager and Nanoracks’ expertise in managing global customer experience and search operations at the International Space Station for more than a decade.

“Hilton has been innovating to improve the guest experience and pioneer new travel destinations for more than a century. We are thrilled to partner with Voyager to bring this expertise to Starlab,” said Chris Nassetta, President and CEO of Hilton. “For decades, discoveries in space have positively impacted lives. On Earth, and now Hilton will have the opportunity to use this unique environment to improve the guest experience wherever people travel. This historic collaboration underscores our deep commitment to spreading the light and warmth of hospitality and providing a friendly and reliable stay – both on Earth and in outer space.”

This first-of-its-kind project builds on Hilton’s impact in new and emerging markets, its rich history in space, and its global leadership in accommodation and hospitality, welcoming more than three billion guests across a portfolio of 18 brands comprising 7,000 hotels in 122 countries and territories. In partnership with Voyager, Hilton will bring this unique range and customer focus to Starlab as it continues to serve every traveler on every journey occasion.

The research and design work assigned to Starlab can also lead to developments that drive sustainability and greater design efficiency for future hoteliers in space and on Earth.

Voyager and Hilton will partner in the fields of architecture and design, and draw upon Hilton’s word-class creative design and innovation experts, to develop the Starlab’s space-hosting crew headquarters, including common areas, hospitality suites, and sleeping arrangements for the astronauts. In addition, the teams will seek to explore opportunities together for long-term efforts including the Earth-to-space astronaut experience, global joint marketing and branding, and other tourism, educational and commercial efforts.
