Brian Dabol deserved to dance with his players after The New York Giants defeated the Tennessee Titans Sunday in his country Debut NFL Coach Coaching. While the game contained some of Big Blue’s familiar weaknesses – a slow start, allowed two laps and five sacks – it also featured two dynamics that could have legs as this season progressed.
One is Daboll. If anything, he immediately proved that he is not afraid to make an important decision at a critical time. Was he lucky to convert two points? yes. When Saquon Barkley picked up a shovel pass from Daniel Jones, two midfielders, a few feet apart, were squared off to make the tackle. Barkley beat them to the goal line. Did Daboll get lucky again when Randy Bullock missed a 47-yard field goal as time ran out? Oh yes! But Bill Parcells didn’t send the Super Bowl XXV episode he won the same way, did he?
No, the main thing is that Daboll seems to be connected to his team (unlike Ben McAdoo and Pat Shurmur) and a regular guy (unlike Joe Judge).
Other takeaways from the first week It was a Barkley explosion. It was only one game, but it seemed to come back after his 164-yard dash and six more 30-yard catches. If Barkley can get back to his level in 2018, that changes everything for the Giants.
Now the Carolina Panthers come to MetLife Stadium on Sunday. The last NFL Preview section in 2022 contained stats showing that over the past four seasons, the Giants had been the fourth best in the NFL against the spread on the road but number 32 (finally dead) against the number at home. To be precise, the Giants were a 9-22-1 ATS at the time, but this horror show includes a 25-3 home defeat for the Panthers in 2021.

Carolina goes back to last season, it’s 0-8 and didn’t cover the spread once. It’s kind of amazing that Matt Rhule is still in Game 9, but here we go.
pick: Giants -2.
New York Jets (+6.5) over Cleveland Browns
Jets are very toxic on the market, and that spread seems to be nearly double what you’d expect to see with Jacoby Brissett in a quarterback for the favourites. I really think the Jets have more talent spread across the field than they have in recent years. The problem is…still…the offensive line. Statue Joe Flacco needs time to be able to tap into the full talents of Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore. If Mike LaFleur’s line and gameplay messages can stop Myles Garrett from ruining the game, the Jets can cover that.
Miami Dolphins (+3.5) over Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore beat the Gates by 15, but Gates left 11 points on the table with a missed field goal, Pat missed and dropped the touchdown pass. One of the most amazing results of 2021 was Thursday night in Miami when the Dolphins beat the Ravens 6-2, 22-10, 2-7. It should be tight, so it’s good to have an extra half point.
Washington leaders (+1.5) over the Lions of Detroit
He prefers supporting the Lions as bigger underdogs than the short candidates, as they have to win the match. D’Andre Swift says he’ll play, but he and two key attackers (Frank Ragno and Taylor Decker) are on the injury report. The Leaders are still seen as a third-place lineup, but this team is a hidden contender to win the NFC East.
Indianapolis Colts (-3.5) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Line has moved towards the home underdogs during the week, but the Colts were favored by 10.5 in Jacksonville last season, so that seems like an adjustment not for much of a reason. Matt Ryan should have more continuity in his second game as Colt.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) over New Orleans Saints
Yes, Tom Brady 0-4 with eight interceptions in regular season games against Saints as a Buc. You know he wants this, desperately, and it was impressive how Brady walked after he missed the end of camp and ruined the Cowboys.
New England Patriots (-2) vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Kind of a surprise that the Patriots are favorites and loathes of me facing the long-running winger of Mike Tomlin as an underdog (46-23 ATS in his career). But the Steelers fell to T.J. Watt, Nagy Harris agonized, and Bill Belichick was a historic great from the loss.
Los Angeles Rams (-10) over the Atlanta Falcons
The defending champions had a few extra days to think about being destroyed on opening night by the Bills. The Falcons have had a long run, and it’s expected to be an even longer day for one of the least talented teams in the NFL.
Seattle Seahawks (+8.5) over SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Shoot all the jokes you want about Geno Smith, but he’s a perfect fit for the Seahawks’ offense, with his powerful arm and mobility. Tough place for them with travel after an emotional win on Monday night, but I’m not ready to put almost double digits with Trey Lance.
Cincinnati Bengals (-7.5) over the Dallas Cowboys
The spread seems like a lot, but is it really? Is it hard to predict the Bengals 30-20 or 27-17 even if Cooper Rush can do some things with the Cowboys attack that Dak Prescott couldn’t do against the Buccaneers?
Houston Texans (+10) over Denver Broncos
Nathaniel Hackett was stupid in the first week for his unfathomable decision to bleed the clock to attempt a field goal from 64 yards in Seattle. A double-digit win over Texas probably isn’t high on his to-do list because he’s all about gigs. Beside that ,[دت بك],[دت بك]To last season, Houston has covered four of his past five with Davis Mills.
Las Vegas Raiders (-5.5) over the Arizona Cardinals
The raiders were a two-point diversion away from cover against powerful chargers. It’s hard to trust Derek Carr to cover such a tricky number, but I have a feeling the Cardinals could be in for the start of a hard landing that will lead to Cliff Kingsbury becoming the first coach to be sent off.
Chicago Bears (+10) above the Green Bay Packers
A rain forecast rains for Lambo Sunday night, which could be good for Justin Fields and Modders of Chicago. Allen Lazard could be back for the Pack, but there’s a lot to ask of Aaron Rodgers in a prime-time split match.
Betting on the NFL?
Buffalo Bills (-10) on the Tennessee Titans
A revenge match for the Bills, who lost 34-31 at Nashville in an entertaining battle last season. The bills also have a few extra days off. Show the Titans that if you stop Derek Henry, there won’t be much left for the rest of the Titans.
Minnesota Vikings (+2) over PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
After seeing what the Lions did with the Eagles’ defense in the second half of last week, it’s hard to resist Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook plus a few points here.
Pirates, Seahawks, Vikings.
The Buccaneers (closed 1-0 in 2022).
6-10 in general, 2-1 are the best bets.
